Have you ever wondered what type of gear your favorite photographer uses? I love photography gear, and I love trying new things. I thought I'd share with you what products I love and have, just in case you were curious.
What did I start with?
When I decided to get my first camera, I was pregnant with my first son, I knew I wanted to document his life and first years, and I knew I wanted something nicer then my iphone to do it with. I called my wedding photographer and asked her what she recommended. To my surprise, she recommended a Nikon D5300. She used a Canon Mark II when she shot my wedding so I was expecting to get a Canon recommendation, but it turns out she had jumped brands and started using a Nikon. So I got myself a Nikon D5300 and a 50mm lens. The perfect starter camera and lens set! I learned everything I could. I took classes in person and online, I practiced. Eventually I decided I wanted to upgrade to a full frame camera. I lived in Seattle and the winter season was so rainy and dark, I wanted a camera that was a bit more capable of handling the dark winters. I have sold some lenses and bought some new ones, tried a lot and excited to try some more.
What is in my bag now?
Now I shoot with a Nikon D750. I really love this camera! Its everything I could want in a camera.
I have 4 lenses in my bag. I use 3 of them for my professional sessions, and one just for fun with my family.
A Nikon 85mm 1.4/g. This lens is my go to for my high school senior photo shoots. It creates such a beautiful creamy bokeh (blurred background)
.A Sigma ART 50mm 1/4. This lens might be my favorite lens in my bag. It produces such gorgeous colors and is tack sharp. This is my go to lens for family shoots, I zoom with my feet, not with my lens. I can get as wide as I want and get great close up shots with this lens as well.
A Sigma ART 35mm 1.4. This lens stays on my camera at home. This is my lifestyle lens for my boys, I love how close I can get to them and still grab focus on them. I love the way it provides more of the scenery indoors with its wider angle. I also love the colors and sharpness the Sigma ART lens provide!
What type of camera bag do I use?
I have two camera bags. I started with a Kelly Moore over the shoulder bag, its very sturdy and holds all my gear. Its cute too, so that's a bonus! HoweverI really like a backpack style camera bag, over Christmas I snagged a Peak Design Backpack and I LOVE it! Do you have a DSLR? What other type of gear to you use? What type of bag do you use for your gear?
